Well, that didn't last long.

So two weeks ago, I wrote about how the WWE have actually impressed me with their build to the HHH and Undertaker feud. Well this week I’m back to my old self. By that I obviously mean, I’m going to call the WWE on their booking decision. I’m sure there are probably a few bad decisions, but the one I’m talking about is CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho. 

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for the Wrestlemania match. Not only do I think it should happen, I think it needs to happen. John Cena vs. The Rock is going to be electrifying, The Undertaker vs. HHH is going to be memorable, but Jericho vs. Punk has the potential to be match of the year, if not the decade. 

However, the way the WWE have gone about booking the match annoys me. It all started back when Jericho came back; already the Internet Wrestling Community was talking about the possibility of a dream match between Jericho vs. Punk. If they started to book it then, then fair enough. But, they didn’t Jericho became the Jeric-troll and threatened to change the industry as we know it. Great.

I was excited, as I’m sure you were. However, Jericho didn’t win the 2012 Royal Rumble as many had predicted. So the industry hadn’t changed, like we were told. But instead everything stayed the same. Then the chamber was next. Jericho had turned full fledge heal and had already started a program with Punk. Brilliant. 

Surely, Jericho was going to walk into the Elimination Chamber and screw Punk for the title. I could just see it, Jericho is last to enter, but just before he does Punk is attacked. Jericho gets the cheap pin and becomes the champion. 

Alas, we didn’t get that either. Instead Jericho got kicked in the head, fell out of the chamber and became ‘concussed’. Punk won the elimination chamber and retained the belt. 

So last night on Raw there was a battle royal to see who would face Punk at Mania. Jericho, once again entered the main event as favourite. Finally, he won the battle royal. How did he win it you ask? By being very dominate? Well, no. He did eliminate The Big Show though. Did he do it impressively? Well no, Cody Rhodes helped. 

So let me get this straight. The WWE championship is your main prize. You have a hugely popular Champion and your number one challenger for the biggest show of the year taken three chances to fight the champion? Yes. 

Jericho finished second in the Rumble, got another chance, where he finished 3^rd in the chamber, then in his final chance, he managed to win. Doesn’t really make him look credible does it? Well no. 

But, let’s focus on the positives, the match is finally happening. Let’s hope that they make Jericho look credible before the two fight at ‘Mania. Even if worse comes to worse, they’ll still give us a good match. Creative can’t screw that up. Well hopefully not.

What could happen on the greatest stage of them all?

I’m not the biggest fan of ‘dream booking’ articles. I don’t really like spending time booking imaginary articles a few months ahead of Wrestlemania, when I doubt the WWE are planning that far ahead. However, since I’m going this year, I’m pretty excited and it’s an article type that I have never done before, so I thought I’d give it a go. 

I’m going to book the top five matches on the card; bar the Cena vs. Rock match that is already happening, according to what I think will happen mixed in with what I want to happen. It will probably be more optimistic than what will realistically happen, but I’ll try not to go to crazy. I will only book wrestlers that have existing WWE contracts, so there will be no Lesnar on this list. 

Match One: Randy Orton vs. Kane

This one might seem a bit of a stretch, since the two superstars being on different rosters. However, that doesn’t mean much. I honestly don’t see Orton in the title picture again at this year’s Wrestlemania. They could do Orton vs. Bryan, but for some reason I don’t see it happening. Kane will have just finished his feud with Cena and will still be in a high spot on the card. Like they did last year with Punk, I can see the WWE shoving Kane in a feud with Orton to create quite a high profile match. 

Is it ideal? No, but would I hate it? Not at all. Orton can get good matches out of a lot of people and Kane is one of my favourite big men. 

Match Two: Mark Henry vs. Shaquille O’ Neil w/ Big show in his corner

I know Shaq vs. Show has been the celebrity match that everyone is clamouring for, but with Show not looking like he’s turning heel anytime soon I can see the E going a different route. That root would be the World’s Strongest Man: Mark Henry. 

Do I think this is a good idea? Hellz Yeah. The Shaq match isn’t going to be good whoever he fights, but it should be entertaining. Who’s one of the most entertaining superstars out of the ring at the moment? Mark Henry. I would have Shaq come out, Show follows him out and they shake hands. Then ‘somebody gonna get da ass kicked’ and good ol’ Mark Henry walks out looking for a fight. 

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus

With The Rock vs. Cena match, Jericho coming back and the Undertakers 20^th match, I can seriously see the World Heavyweight Championship match being pushed aside a bit. Dependant if his heel Gimmick works, I think that D-Bry will hold the title until the big event. His challenger? No other than the Ginger Ninja, Sheamus. Sheamus has been dominant without a feud for a while. It’s only a matter of time until they throw him into the title hunt. 

I think it’s a good choice because it feels fresh. Especially if the feud is worked around D Bry’s hate for Bodybuilder types and Sheamus’ rush to the top. 

WWE Title Match: Cm Punk vs. Jericho

Unless the WWE quickly lose faith in Punk. I can see this one being a lock. It looks like Jericho has come back as a heel. Don’t let last Monday fool you. His actions were the ones of a heel. A new breed of heel but a heel nonetheless. With no other heel in Jericho’s stratosphere, the logical thing to do would be for him to feud with the baby face champ. 

Am I excited? Yes, yes and more yes. There’s no doubt that these two in a match together could bring something special. The only thing that would be more exciting than these to wrestling each other is thinking about the promos they will cut beforehand. 

Undertaker Vs The Miz

Ok, this is the biggest stretch, but just here me out. I know The Undertaker vs. HHH is being widely reported, however, I don’t want it to happen so I’m going to try and look past that. So that means The Undertaker needs a new opponent. Without the WWE bringing back another big name, I seriously can see it being The Miz. I don’t see the Miz in the title picture so he needs a high profile match. 

Do I see it working? Sure. Especially with The Miz knocking off Cena at last year’s Mania, he could brag about being the a Wrestlemania legend, then the light hits and BONG The Dead Man enters. I love it.

So they’re my picks. Looking back it has turned into a bit of a wish list, but I’d like to think that there’s an ounce of logic to it. Hopefully.

Being Sociable: Twitter can be good for the WWE. 

We live in an ever evolving world. More and more uses of internet crop up each day.  I’m pretty sure that if I really wanted to, I could stay in my room with a month supply of cheetos and a potty and not need a reason to leave. 

There was a time where being an ‘internet whore’ would turn one into a social recluse. Not in the magical year of 2011, where you can still remain popular(ish) and contact with other real humans through social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

However, it’s not just us ‘normies’ that are using social media, celebrities also use social media as a way to connect with there fans. It is arguable that no one is plugging social media more than the WWE at the moment. It seems that we can’t go an episode of Raw or Smackdown without having Twitter thrust in our faces, telling us who to follow and what’s trending. 

This has received some criticism by a lot of wrestling fans, who have took offense to this social pandering. However, I’m for the WWE using Twitter like they do. Well OK maybe not like they do, because the constant Twitter bombardment does make me want to type Google into Google and blow up the internet. But, I am for  the Twitter initiative. 

They may have not have their Twitter initiative defined at the moment and  are just going at it like an obese child does a tray of biscuits, but the use of social media can be effective. Social media can help tease rivalries, build feuds and showcase new angles, not to mention help fans interact with their favourite superstar. 

This will give another dimension to Raw and Smackdown and will enable the WWE to think of a creative way of how to promote their product more than just the usual mediums. Also, I believe that it will attract another kind of audience. If fans can follow their favourite superstars and see rivalries continued virally, this could potentially attract people who might not have the time to watch a full episode, you’re more casual wrestling fan. This is especially the case when the superstar that they are following is entertaining as Twitter kings such as CM Punk, Zack Ryder and Dolph Ziggler.

I do have a worry though. I only hope that the WWE doesn’t go completely Kayfabe with social media, especially Twitter. Yes, setting up rivalries can be key with Twitter and can defiantly aid the product. But, what I don’t want to see Tweets from The Undertaker claiming that he’s sitting in a grave somewhere. The key thing about Twitter is it lets fans get a glimpse into the wrestlers’ life. This glimpse would be ruined if the E forced all their talent to Tweet and post 100% in character. 

So I’m all for the WWE using Twitter and if done right I can really seeing it becoming the WWE’s thing. But, if they mess it up, then they’re just a bunch of Twits.
